So you want to CHARTER YOUR OWN BOAT and
cruise the Whitsundays ? Great way to have an independant holiday!!
The 74 islands of the Whitsundays group
lay inside the great barrier reef, and form a further protective
barrier which creates our safe, sheltered, world-famous sailing
& cruising area. The prevailing onshore breezes (Southeast
in winter, Northeast in Summer) make for excellent sailing, and
there is always a nice little bay on a lee shore for calm, overnight
anchorage. These bays have small beaches, with fringing coral
offshore for snorkelling & generally produce reasonable fishing.
All vessels are fully equipped with linen,
towels, galley & utensils, snorkelling gear, charts, lifejackets
and a dinghy with outboard. All you need to bring is food,drink
& CREW !!
There are currently over 200 vessels, from
26 ft sloops to 50 ft catamarans, and 12 "bareboat"
companies operating here. As a FIERCELY INDEPENDANT TRAVEL AGENCY
we deal with all of them and have no qualms about telling you
whether a vessel is old, tired,or "just right for your needs".

NOTE: As many of the BERTHS are "doubles",
and some of these are 3/4 size V-berths only suitable for one
adult or two children, it is important that you advise how many
couples, adult singles & children there will be in your group.
Thus informed, we are better able to recommend the right-sized
vessel, at the "right" price.
QUALIFICATIONS: No qualifications or licences
are required, but at least one of your group should have had some
experience in the TYPE of vessel you choose - Dinghy or sabot
sailing for yachts, driving a "tinnie" for motor-boats
would suffice - you will be given a thorough briefing on the boat
& the area before you depart, and then taken for a 'test-run'.
SAILGUIDES or 'skippers' are available (at a fee) if you need
a 'confidence-boost'.
